A man has been arrested after extensive damage was caused to a number of buildings and cars in Westport, Co Mayo, overnight.
The suspect, who is aged in his 30s, is being held at a garda station in Mayo.
He was detained after more than 20 windows on the town's Order of Malta building were broken, with damage also caused to the windows of several parked cars and other properties in the St Mary's Crescent area of the town.


It is understood the suspect was armed with a hammer.
Gardaí were alerted at around 3am and arrested him at the scene.
He is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
There are no reports of any injuries as a result of the incident.
