A woman in her 90s, who died in a house fire in Kiltimagh in Co Mayo, has been named as Mary McNicholas.
The retired nurse lived alone in Cordarragh, on the outskirts of the town.
Emergency services were called to the scene yesterday afternoon and brought the fire under control.
Gardaí do not believe there is anything suspicious about the blaze.
A brother of the victim, who lives in a separate area of the property, managed to escape the fire.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body has been taken to Mayo University Hospital where a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out.
A file is being prepared for the local coroner and an inquest will be held in due course.
Local Fianna Fáil councillor John Caulfield paid tribute to her, saying she was one of the area's oldest residents.
"I like everybody else in the local community, was shocked to learn of the sad passing of Mary McNicholas, one of Kiltimagh's oldest residents, in this fire at her house here at the back of the Church of the Holy Family," he said.

He added that she was part of a very well-known family in the area.
Ms McNicholas and her brothers and sisters originally came from Treenagleragh at the top of the mountain overlooking Kiltimagh.
She first started her working career in England where she trained to become a nurse.
Then she returned to work at St Mary's in the Phoenix Parkin Dublin where she nursed to the end of her career, before settling back home here.
