Three teenage boys have appeared in court in Sligo charged in connection with an incident at a service station on Mail Coach Road in the town on Tuesday evening.
The boys were charged at Sligo District Children's Court and cannot be named for legal reasons.
One boy was charged with assault causing harm to another teenager contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act at Mail Coach Road on 31 October.
Two of the boys were charged with assaulting another person, a male, contrary to Section 2 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act at the same location on the same date.
They were also charged under the Public Order Act with using or engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to provoke a breach of the peace.
The court was told that the boys are all in secondary school.
Each had been detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Sligo Garda Station yesterday.
Three different gardaí gave evidence of having arrested, charged, and cautioned each of the accused in the presence of a guardian.
One was charged at Sligo Garda Station at 11:07pm last night and the other two at 12:14am and 12:30am this morning.
The accused were represented by solicitor Gerry McGovern who applied for bail for each of them. There was no garda objection to bail.
Judge Brendan O'Reilly granted bail to each of the accused with several conditions attached including observing a curfew between 7pm and 7am.
They must not associate with each other after school and must not make direct or indirect contact with, including on social media, the alleged victims in the case and any potential witnesses.
An independent surety of €500 was required for each of the accused who, under the bail conditions, must be of good behaviour and commit no offence and must reside at specified addresses.
They were each released on bail to appear in court again on 18 January 2024.
Free legal aid was granted by the judge in relation to each of the accused.
