A man who was arrested in connection with an aggravated burglary at a house in Skreen, Co Sligo early last year has been released.
Tom Niland, who was in his 70s and lived alone, was left with head and upper body injuries following the attack on Tuesday 18 January 2022.
He died last September at Sligo University Hospital, where he had been since the attack.
Gardaí say that the arrested man was released without charge and a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Three other men have appeared in court charged in relation to the attack.
