A man in his 60s has died after the car he was driving veered off a road and entered a lake on Inis Bigil in Co Mayo.
The incident occurred at around 8.30pm last night.
The man was taken from the water, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
His body has been removed to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
