Irish Rail says full services are operating today between Westport and Dublin following yesterday's collision between a car and a train at a level crossing in Mayo.

Two brothers, aged 16 and 20 are said to be in a stable condition at Galway University Hospital. The crash occurred yesterday afternoon at a farm crossing between Ballyhaunis and Claremorris.

There were 190 passengers on board the train at the time, but no one on the train was injured.

Irish Rail say there are a number of separate inquiries now underway into the incident and they will carry out their own internal investigation.
