A woman has died and two men have suffered serious injuries following a crash in Co Mayo.
The woman, aged in her 70s, was a passenger in a car that was involved in a collision with another car on the N5 near Swinford at around 4.30pm today.
The driver, understood to be in his 80s, was taken to Mayo University Hospital while the driver of the other car, who is in his 40s, was brought to University Hospital Galway.
Gardaí said both of them suffered serious injuries.
A section of the N5 between Swinford and Charlestown has been closed as a technical examination takes place and diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing toanyone who may have witnessed the collision, or has dash-cam footage from the road between 4pm and 4.45pm, to contact Swinford station on 094 925 2990, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
