A woman in her 40s has died after being hit by a train in Co Sligo, while a woman in her 20s was seriously injured.
The incident happened on the train line at Knox Park, Ballisodare, at around 4pm yesterday.
The dead woman has been named as Jessica McLoughlin from Sligo town.
It is understood she was walking close to the train line with a relative when the 3.05pm service from Sligo to Dublin approached. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The injured woman is being treated at Sligo University Hospital after sustaining serious injuries.
The train was en route to Dublin's Connolly Station, with around 100 passengers on board, when the incident occurred.
The passengers disembarked and were transferred by bus to Boyle train station to continue their journey.
A full technical examination of the crash site has taken place.
Gardaí said the local coroner had been notified about the fatality.
Iarnród Éireann said all services to and from Sligo are running as normal this morning.

The incident will also be subject to a separate investigation by the Railway Accident Investigation Unit (RAIU).
It is charged with examining the circumstances surrounding any fatalities or serious injuries on the rail network, with a view to making recommendations for the avoidance of similar incidents in future.
Speaking to RTÉ News, Sinn Féin councillor for Sligo-Drumcliffe Thomas Healy said: "The guards had the road closed off at Ballisodare, so I'm aware there was a tragedy on the line.
"My thoughts are with the families and the driver of the train."
