A group of teenagers from around Ireland will be showcasing their mix of sean-nós and hip hop skills when their musical journey has its film premiere in Co Galway this weekend.

Sean-nós is a short Irish language film by Fibín Media and examines whether we can break with tradition and breathe new life into a sean-nós song.

The film is directed by Tadhg Óg Mac Dhonneagáin and follows four young people, Áine Ní Fhearraigh, Eibhlín Ní Mháirtín, Neasa Nic Dhonncha and Sorcha Ní Lorcáin as they embark on a musical journey together to put a sean-nós song into the context of 2023.

The event forms part of countrywide Cruinniú na nÓg activities and free events for young people.

A wide range of workshops, tutorials, recitals and readings will take place in villages and towns across the country.

Cruinniú na nÓg is an initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme which works to maximise the artistic potential of children and teenagers.

The film premiere takes place at the Pálás Cinema in Galway City at 3pm tomorrow.
