An application is to be made to transfer from Sligo the case of three men accused of aggravated burglary, false imprisonment and causing serious harm at the home of Tom Niland in Skreen on 18 January.

Three men with addresses in Mayo have been charged in relation to the incident and are currently on remand in custody.

They are Francis Harman of Nephin Court, Killala Road, Ballina; John Irving of Shanwar, Foxford, and John Clarke of Carrowkelly, Ballina.

At Sligo Circuit Court this morning, Judge Keenan Johnson was told that Mr Irving would be making an application to have proceedings moved to Dublin and the application was supported by the other two accused.

Desmond Dockery, SC for Mr Clarke, said that the publicity generated by the case warrants it being moved.

Judge Johnson adjourned the matter until 21 October, saying that one application would be sufficient to cover all three accused men.
