A three-day ukulele festival has been taking place in the Latin Quarter of Galway city.
Alongside workshops to help people hone their skills, improve their rhythm techniques and even learn to sing in harmony, the distinctive sound of the instrument has been celebrated at concerts, workshops, and flash mobs throughout the weekend.
The increasingly popular instrument is now attracting classically trained musicians, such as comedy act Opera-lele from Kent in the UK, and Liverpool duo Mersey Belles.
Last night there was a ukulele concert in St Nicholas Collegiate Church, featuring professional acts along with local groups including young ukulele players from St Pat's Primary School.

There are now 30 ukulele groups around Ireland.
Brothers Gerry and Brendan Savage set up the Galway Uke Fest in 2019
Gerry told RTÉ News: "This tiny guitar with just four strings is loved the world over, but here in Ireland a variation on the theme has emerged.
"We've invented the Ukulele Ceilidh which is a sort of free for all jam with local groups and performers battling it out on stage for Uke of the Year. But always the emphasis is on fun."
