Two people have died, and a third person was injured, in a road crash in Co Roscommon in the early hours of this morning.
The single-car collision occurred on the R293 between Ballaghadereen and Gorteen at Edmonstown road at around 3.30am.
A man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman, aged in her 30s, was taken to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar, but was later pronounced dead.
A third person in the car, a man in his 20s, was also taken to MUH, where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The road has been closed for a technical examination and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, particularly any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R293 at the time of the collision, to contact Castelrea Garda Station on 094-9621630, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
