There has been an appeal for witnesses following a hit-and-run incident in Co Galway yesterday.
A pedestrian was hit by a car at around 8.30pm near the Furbo Church on the R336 between Na Forbacha (Furbo) and An Spideál.
The pedestrian, a man aged in his 40s, was taken to University Hospital Galway to be treated for serious injuries.
The driver of the car failed to remain at the scene.
The road is currently closed with diversions in place while gardaí conduct a forensic examination of the scene.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They are also appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R336 between Na Forbacha and An Spideál between 8-9pm last night to contact them at Salthill Garda Station on 091-514720.
It is the second hit-and run-incident in the area after a woman died on the same road following a hit-and-run in December 2020.
