Two people have died in a house fire in Co Roscommon in the early hours of this morning.
A man and woman, both in their mid-40s, died in the fire that happened at around 2am at Rooty Cross about 13km from Ballinasloe, Co Galway.
The victims have been named as Joey Tumulty and Nuala Kenny.
Three units of the fire brigade and an ambulance attended the scene, assisted by gardaí from Ballinasloe, Clonark, and Roscommon.
The bodies were removed from the scene and taken to Galway University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The house has been sealed off and gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them at Roscommon Garda Station on 090 6437102, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
Local Parish Priest Father Michael Molloy of Moore, Ballydangan Parish said the community is in deep shock.
He said parishioners and neighbours would do everything they can to support the family.
