Galway's term as European Capital of Culture will formally wrap up on 30 April, after organisers announced a last ditch attempt to showcase some of the projects commissioned for the programme.

Public health restrictions have severely impacted the planned schedule, with the cancellation of most events due to take place over the last 12 months.

In December, the European Commission approved the extension of the city’s Capital of Culture designation until the end of April 2021 but, until now, Galway 2020 planned to end operations in March.

Now, the company plans to stage a number of events in mid to late April.

But due to restrictions on public gatherings these will all be presented online.
