A teenage girl has died in a road crash near Oughterard in Co Galway.
The 16-year-old girl was a passenger in a car, which struck a wall, at around 1.15am and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body was taken to University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
The driver, a 21-year-old man, was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to University Hospital Galway.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses who may have travelled the road and can assist them or drivers who may have dash-cam footage to contact Salthill Garda Station on 091 514720, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
The teenager's death brings to seven the number of people who have died on Irish roads since Friday.
Yesterday, three people - including a mother and son - were killed in a two-car collision in Co Louth and a man in his 20s died after he was struck by a lorry in Co Monaghan.
On Friday evening, a man and a woman, both in their 60s, died in a road crash in Co Cavan.
