Two gardaí were injured and a patrol car rammed in a suspected attempted robbery in Mohill, Co Leitrim.
Two stolen vehicles were driven into the car park of the Centra supermarket in Mohill at 4.30am and were seen a couple of minutes later by gardaí on patrol in the area.
When gardaí drove into the car park, their car was rammed by one of the stolen vehicles - a 4x4 - injuring two female gardaí.
Five people fled the area in the second vehicle - a Mercedes - on the Lough Rynn to Drumlish road.
The car crashed a short time later and a man in his 30s was found trapped inside. He was taken to Sligo University Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Gardaí out up cordons in the area and shortly before 9.30am they stopped a car at Tamlaght Mor, Mohill.
They arrested two men, one in his 20s and the other aged in his 30s, and a juvenile.
They are being detained at Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station.
Gardaí believe the incident was an attempt to break into the Centra Supermarket and those involved were not local.
One person believed to be involved in the incident is still missing.
