Woman dies in three-car crash in Roscommon

A 68-year-old woman died and two other people were injured in a three-car collision in Co Roscommon.

The collision happened at Ballinaboy Cross on the N63 Lanesboro to Roscommon road at around 9.45pm last night.

The driver of one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was taken to Roscommon University Hospital.

The drivers of the other cars were taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe and the Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore. However their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The road was closed for a forensic examination but has since reopened.
