People in the west of Ireland are being asked not to present at University Hospital Galway's Emergency Department, due to a lengthy backlog of patients waiting to be admitted.
Management at the hospital says 37 people are awaiting admission to hospital this morning.
They say anyone travelling to the Emergency Department will face significant delays.
Efforts are being made to discharge patients to free up bed space and the hospital's full capacity protocol has been implemented.
Hospital management have apologised to patients and their families for any distress caused due to the delays.
