The 'Games from Ireland Steam Event' will feature over 150 games

Irish video games are to be showcased during a week-long online event.

The 'Games from Ireland Steam Event' will feature over 150 games and will run on Steam, a leading digital distribution platform and social hub for games on PC, with 132 million monthly active users on the platform.

The featured games will have a clear Irish connection such as being developed in Ireland, having Irish-led or Irish-majority teams, being playable in Irish, or featuring Irish culture, stories, or locations.

The event will spotlight upcoming projects and will feature games through trailers, gameplay, and curated clips from Irish streamers.

The showcase is designed to present Irish games on an international stage, not only to players but to studios, publishers, and the wider global games industry.

The event will run on Steam during St Patrick's Day from 13 March - 19 March.

The initiative was developed in collaboration with Irish developers and studios worldwide, and led by Imirt, the Irish Game Makers Association.

"I'm delighted to see Steam turn green for St Patrick's day this year, and looking forward to more players discovering the incredible games coming out of Ireland," said Colm Larkin, CEO of Imirt.

The global games industry is now worth more than the music and film industry combined, with the estimated value expected to reach over $385 billion in the coming years.

It is thought that Ireland's digital gaming sector could be worth around €250m.
