US wearable technology company Whoop said today it plans to add more than 600 new global jobs, including new jobs at its Irish operations in Limerick.

Whoop said most of the new roles will be based at its Boston headquarters, but it also has plans to grow its Limerick office, as part of the continued global scaling strategy

The new jobs will be across software, research and design, hardware, product and marketing.

"Companies are debating whether to hire more people or just invest in AI," said Will Ahmed, founder and CEO of WHOOP.

"We are doing both. We are doubling down on exceptional talent and doubling down on world-class AI tools because the combination is what wins," he said.

"Health monitoring is becoming one of the most important platforms in the world, and WHOOP intends to own the category," he added.

Whoop produces technology that tracks science-backed metrics including heart rate variability, resting heart rate and respiratory rate.
