There was a 27% increase in foreign visitors to Ireland last month with 429,8000 people making trips here compared to January of 2025, new figures from the Central Statistics Office show.
However, the figures are down 5% on January 2024.
Last month visitors spent 3.6 million nights in the country - an increase of 27% on January 2025.
Visitors from Great Britain accounted for the largest share (43%), compared with Continental Europe (36%), North America (14%), and the Rest of the World (7%).
Last month 46% of foreign visitors said the main purpose for their trip was visiting friends and relatives, while 30% said it was for holidays and 18% for business.
The average length of stay for foreign resident overnight visitors was 8.3 nights, down from 8.4 nights in January of last year.
