Forecourt and convenience retailer Maxol has launched a new meal delivery service.
It will be initially trialed at three of the company's operations in Donabate and Longmile Road, Co Dublin and at Ardbrae in Bray, Co Wicklow.
The Irish-owned business has signed an 18-month deal with restaurant platform Noahs to offer the freshly prepared food.
And as part of the new service, the retailer will also be offering grocery products for delivery, which can be ordered online.
The announcement was made to coincide with the release of the Maxol Group’s trading results last year, which show group turnover was €786m.
The figures represented an increase of €30m on the 2023 turnover.
The group recorded a pre-tax profit, before exceptionals, of €33.3m, which is up from €31.2m the previous year.
Maxol said it finished the year in a strong financial position, with no net bank debt and a substantial cash surplus.
The company said it made 14 site acquisitions during the 2023-2025 period and redeveloped or retrofitted 27 of its existing sites.
Maxol Group CEO Brian Donaldson said 2024 and 2025 have been "defined by strategic investments, key acquisitions, and smart innovations, as the company expanded its offering with new sites, products and services."
On the new food delivery service, he said the company already offers an extensive range of freshly made meals, but he said this move "takes our offering to a whole new level and potentially, to a whole new set of customers."
"Our fresh food offering is primarily focused on breakfast through to lunchtime but starting 2026, customers can enjoy cooked-to-order, high quality meals such as pizza, Mexican bowls, burgers and much more, that will be delivered straight to their door."
Mr Donaldson said the move underscores Maxol’s transformation into a leading convenience food retailer, with non-fuel sales accounting for around 40% of the company’s gross profit.
Maxol also said it will be rolling out "an American-style conveyor car wash technology" to more of its outlets.
This car wash system, which involves cars being moved through various cleaning stages, is already operational at the Spawell and Coolquay Maxol stations in Co Dublin.
The company said planning applications for the conveyor car wash system will be lodged shortly for five of Maxol’s existing sites in Limerick, Cork, Dublin, Belfast and Derry.
