A third of consumers in Ireland would put off saving to buy a house in favour of medium to short-term satisfaction, new research shows.
The survey carried out by digital banking app Revolut shows that 17% would put off their own wedding for instant gratification, while 14% would hold off on having children.
Meanwhile, 11% of savers cited low interest rates as the main challenges facing them when trying to put money aside, while 19% said inflation is stifling their savings.
12% of respondents believe they will never be able to consistently save enough to fund big life projects, and therefore prefer to enjoy medium to short-term satisfaction.
Today's survey was conducted by market research company Dynata on a random sample of 1,000 consumers across Ireland.
