81% of Irish households are using smart home technology, new research shows.
This surpasses the European average of 71%.
The survey by European retailer reichelt elektronik shows that nearly half of Irish respondents report saving money with smart home tech.
Comfort comes out as the top reason for integrating smart technology products into homes across Ireland.
Voice assistants and multimedia, such as Smart TVs, are the most popular types of smart technology, followed by security tech.
High prices, technical errors and data protection concerns are the main challenges for Irish consumers when purchasing smart home devices
"With the rise of energy prices in recent years, the adoption of smart home technology is proving to be an effective way to reduce costs - an especially welcome relief for households feeling the strain, particularly as we head into the colder winter months," said Christian Reinwald, Head of Product Management at reichelt elektronik.
"The possibilities of smart products are far from exhausted - and as the study shows, people are looking forward to innovations that make their lives easier and more enjoyable," he added.
