Dublin-headquartered video game services firm Keywords Studios confirmed today that it in advanced talks with European private equity firm EQT over a £2 billion bid to buy the video games services company.
Keywords Studios said the latest possible offer follows four previous unsolicited proposals from EQT in recent months, which its Board had rejected.
It added that the latest bid represents a significant increase from the initial proposal with the latest EQT offer representing a more than 70% premium on its value at the close of trading on Friday.
Keywords Studios said its board had carefully evaluated the possible offer and concluded that it is a value that the board would be "minded" to recommend to shareholders, should a firm intention to buy the company be made.
In a statement, Keywords said it remains confident in its growth strategy of building the only truly global platform providing solutions to the video games and entertainment industries, both organically and through acquisitions.
It added that EQT is supportive of this strategy.
London-listed Keywords Studios provides services from game art to marketing and testing and its clients include Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts and Tencent.
