More than 600 young people will gather at Google's headquarters in Dublin this weekend for the Kinia creative tech festival.

The event showcases technology projects of 12 to 18-year-olds in the areas of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths), Digital Media and Computer Science.

An all-Irish "Tech Féile" event will take place today followed by a bilingual "Creative Tech Fest" tomorrow.

The events are the culmination of "Creative Technology Week".

Kinia is an education focused non-profit organisation that works to empower educators to equip young people with future-focused skills.

"We have an ambitious target for 2024 - to upskill over 2,000 educators and lift barriers to learning opportunities for no less than 11,000 young people who need extra support to connect with reference points for future careers," said Marianne Checkley, CEO of Kinia.

Jessica McCarthy, Vice President and Engineering Site Lead of Google Dublin, said community-focused, inclusive events like Kinia's Creative Technology Week are vital to make sure that no young person is left behind.

"At Google, we want to do our part to support both the professional development of educators and to celebrate and showcase the creative learning of young people," Ms McCarthy said.
