Revenue from parcel deliveries in Ireland fell by 9% last year as the post-Covid boom in ecommerce eased.
This was the consequence of a 14% drop in the volume of parcels delivered during the year to 139m.
€875.13m in revenue from parcel deliveries was recorded in 2022, down from €961.9m in 2021.
That year revenue from deliveries was up 26% on 2020, following a 32% jump during the year that the pandemic began.
Compared to 2019, the last full year before the pandemic started, parcel delivery revenue increased by almost €300m or 52%, according to data released by communications regulator Comreg.
Parcel volumes have risen by 32 million or 30%, mainly driven by packages posted in Ireland for delivery here.
