AIB staff, who are members of the Financial Servies Union (FSU), have voted to accept a range of proposals that were negotiated with management at a recent meeting of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC).

Under the deal, staff in AIB will receive a €1,000/£900 tax free voucher payable before the end of 2023.

Effective from January 2024, AIB will introduce 10 days fully paid carers leave per calendar year.

From the start of next year, the current marriage leave policy will also be superseded by a new "Significant Life Event" policy.

This will enable staff to avail of five days leave over the lifetime of their career for significant life events.

Mileage rates for bank staff will increase by 9% from January 2024.

"This agreement will give some comfort to staff who are struggling with the rising cost of living," said Billy Barret, Senior Industrial Relations Officer with the FSU.

"But basic pay increases remain an issue of concern that will need addressing in future pay talks," Mr Barret said.
