Gareth Lambe, the former Head of Meta in Ireland, has been appointed chief executive of health technology platform Medihive.

The company develops software and clinical solutions for the healthcare, pharmacy and insurance industries, as well as direct to consumers and corporates via Webdoctor.ie.

Earlier this year, Medihive received a €7m investment to drive its international growth and for R&D, valuing the business at €62 million.

Mr Lambe stepped down from his role as VP of International Business Operations at Meta and head of the Irish business last year.

During his time leading Meta, the company's workforce in Ireland grew from 300 to 3,000.

He previously worked for PayPal Europe and was part of the start-up team at Pigsback.com.

"Gareth has a wealth of experience as demonstrated by his leadership of Meta Ireland where he oversaw significant growth during his tenure," said Noel McSweeney, Chairman of Medihive.

"We look forward to working with him as CEO to lead Medihive and Webdoctor.ie into the next phase of growth and development."

In his new role, Mr Lambe's priorities will include building the team, fuelling international growth and driving research and development.

He will also work with key stakeholders to help accelerate the adoption of healthcare software.

"I’m delighted to be joining the team at Medihive, especially at such a pivotal time for the business," Mr Lambe said.

"Increasing accessibility to healthcare and improving the patient journey experience are two goals of Medihive - and this is a huge motivator for all of us at the company."

"Driving strategy and organisational change has been a key element of my previous roles so I am looking forward to using this experience to help Medihive and Webdoctor.ie further expand and develop their services both domestically and globally, while continuing to provide transformative digital healthcare solutions."
