AI company Getvisibility said it will invest €1.2m over the next three years to create an Artificial Intelligence Academy, which aims to address the talent gap in the tech sector.
The Irish company said the AI Academy is being developed to attract the right talent into the organisation, particularly for the machine learning engineering and data science department which is set to expand to up to 30 people over the next three years.
Getvisibility was founded by Mark Brosnan and Ronan Murphy and it has over 80 customers globally in finance, manufacturing, healthcare, biotech and pharma. It has raised over €13m to date, including a successful €10m Series A funding round last March.
While Getvisibility's aim is to find data scientists with engineering expertise, the company said it is broadening its scope to find candidates who may be more junior or who may not have the engineering experience but a high level of academic expertise.
It is also open to prospective employees who are transitioning from an adjacent field, such as probability theory or accounting.
The AI Academy will provide team members the opportunity to acquire the relevant knowledge and data science experience through conferences, workshops, seminars, and postgrad fellowships.
In turn, Getvisibility will create its own pool of data scientists working across various projects and studies.
Vlad Constantinescu, Head of Data Science, Getvisibility, said that innovation is at the heart of what the company does, but it relies on it having access to the right talent - something which is proving to be very challenging in the current landscape.
"Having people who want to learn and are conscientious is the first part of the puzzle. The second part is equipping them with the means to develop new skills and enabling them to bring new ideas to the table. That's where our AI Academy comes in. By finding the right people and enabling them to gain the necessary experience in-house, we are actively shaping our own pool of talent," he said.
Mark Brosnan, CEO and co-founder of Getvisibility, said that not only does the AI Academy drive innovation within and expansion of the company itself, but it also delivers business value for its growing customer base.
"By investing more in people and developing more solutions for the organisations we work with, both they and we can grow," he added.
