Swrve bought by Altanta based MessageGears

Mobile app marketing platform, Swrve, has been bought by US customer engagement firm, Message Gears.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed by either party.

Swrve was set up by the co-founders of gaming software developer Havok, Hugh Reynolds and Steve Collins, in 2010.

The company has raised $76m in funding, according to Crunchbase, and counted among its investors Atlantic Bridge, Act Venture Capital, Summit Bridge Capital, Spectre, Enterprise Ireland and the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund.

Atlanta based MessageGears' platform is for marketers to use data in order to engage with their customers in highly personalized ways across email, SMS, and mobile apps.

It expects to use the acquisition of Swrve to help its customers reach their users across a wider variety of channels.

MessageGears counts among its customers Expedia, Indeed, Rakuten, and T-Mobile.

While Swrve is used by Ryanair, Digicel, Three, Warner Bros, Emirates, Verizon and Sony.

Swrve is headquartered in San Francisco, but also has offices in Dublin and London.
