100 new jobs are to be created in Ireland by Icelandic health tech company, Kara Connect.

The new roles will be in a range of areas including sales, marketing client service and finance.

The business develops and runs a health and well-being platform which connects employees with coaches, counsellors, and therapists.

It has already signed up nutritionists, psychologists, life and career coaches, as well as financial counsellors to its secure platform.

The firm is to use Ireland as a base from which to expand into the UK and then continental Europe.

"Dublin is recognised around the world as a location for top talent and as a global tech hub, making it the ideal location for us to establish our European sales and marketing hub," said Thorbjorg Helga Vigfusdottir, founder and CEO of Kara Connect.

"Ireland will form our operational base to expand into the UK and beyond over the coming years."

The Irish operations are to be led by Kerry businessman, John McElligott.

He has been a board member of Kara Connect for the past two years.

He recently joined Kara Connect from Interflora/ MyFlower.

"In the past, employee well-being was focused on providing the same experience for everyone, such as free food, ping-pong tables and wellness lectures," he said.

"Today, we're seeing employees increasingly seek support to address specific but variable concerns."

"Kara Connect enables employers to provide well-being services tailored to employees’ individual requirements in total privacy."
