Irish mobile operator GoMo has increased EU data roaming allowances to customers at no extra cost, as demand from holidaymakers soars.
It said customers will now have 13 GB of EU roaming data when holidaying across the EU this summer.
Currently mobile phone users in Ireland can avail of 'Roam Like Home' when travelling in the EU, which allows customers to use a portion of their data at the same prices that they avail of at home.
However, 'Roam Like Home' is capped at certain limits, dependant on an individual’s plan.
The allowance for GoMo customers was previously 10GB of 4G data.
GoMo said it has recorded a 400% increase in data roaming usage compared to last year's figures, adding that there is a huge appetite from Irish holidaymakers to connect to streaming, messaging, and other digital services while travelling abroad.
Kealan Donoghue, Director of Mobile sat GoMo said the data shows that people are starting to travel again.
"We know that one of the best parts of travelling is making everyone jealous of your trip, by posting great photos, videos and calling friends from sunny destinations and so, we have increased our 4G data EU roaming allowance for all customers up to 13GB," he said.
"GoMo customers have the reassurance that they will remain connected as they travel, all GoMo customers will have 13GB of 4G EU roaming data," he added.
GoMo has acquired more than 300,000 customers since its launch in October 2019.
The company offers customers calls, texts and data for a fixed monthly price - for life.
