Clonakilty fintech company Global Shares has been awarded Technology Ireland's 'Company of the Year' 2021 award.

The award recognises companies that have achieved success, developed innovative technologies and partnerships, and achieved significant sales results over the past year.

Global Shares manages employee stock plans for companies right across the world. Headquartered in Clonakilty, it has 17 offices worldwide and a team of 550 employees.

Una Fitzpatrick, Technology Ireland Director said Global Shares were ambitious from day one.

"Their forensic knowledge of the market led to significant investment and persistent innovation to bring a next gen platform to the market," she said.

Tim Houstoun, CEO of Global Shares said the award is huge endorsement of how far the they have come as a company since their relaunch as a fintech provider in 2015.

"People often ask how a company on the edge of Ireland, on the edge of Europe, could succeed on a global stage, competing with the world’s biggest financial services giants…yet here we are doing it from Clonakilty," he said.
