Discovery streaming widens its reach in Ireland

The on-demand streaming service from Discovery is to widen its availability in Ireland.

The discovery+ app is now available on Samsung smart TVs as well as Amazon Fire TV devices in Ireland and the UK.

It follows its launch direct to consumers and on Sky's Q platform in November of last year.

Parent Discovery said it will also be coming Roku and Vodafone mobile customers here later this year as well as through additional devices and services.

The service will cost €1 for the first month rising to €5.99 a month after that or €59.99 for the year.

The company said the app features the second largest library for unscripted content in the UK, with more than 1,000 hours of exclusive originals in its first year.

These include UK produced Children of the Cult, What Killed Maradona?, Faking It: Jimmy Savile, Prince Andrew, Maxwell & Epstein, Three Men Four Wheels, and Rachel Khoo’s Chocolate.

Eurosport, including coverage of the the Olympic Games in Tokyo and Beijing in 2022, will also be coming to discovery+ this year.
