Online grocery delivery provider Buymie is launching its services in Cork with the creation of up to 50 jobs for so-called personal shoppers.
The service is being launched in partnership with supermarket chain Lidl Ireland.
Buymie's services were previously only available in Dublin and a number of outlying commuter towns until May of this year when it entered the UK market.
The group formed a partnership with retailer Co-op in the city of Bristol and its surrounding area.
Buymie describes itself as a premium "personal shopper service".
Users of the app can select a grocery store, the products they wish to purchase and a same day delivery slot.
The group claims it can fulfil certain orders within the hour.
Customers can also opt for a personalised call from their shopper in store if an item is out of stock.
"This expansion will mean Buymie is available to around 2 million people across 750,000 households in Ireland and the UK," Devan Hughes, CEO and co-founder of Buymie, said.
"The next year will see rapid expansion in the same day-delivery channel as consumers confront a new reality for the foreseeable future."
The group has seen impressive growth in recent months against the backdrop of the Covid-19 restrictions and the rise in popularity of grocery delivery services.
In June, Buymie successfully raised €5.8m in new investments.
This took total capital raised so far in 2020 to over €8m and €10.5m to date.
