Professional networking website LinkedIn is set to expand its European headquarters in Dublin city centre.

The US tech company has agreed a deal to pre-let three interconnecting office buildings, being developed at Wilton Park by property company IPUT, on a 25 year lease.

The new buildings are next door to its current location at Wilton Place.

Construction at Two, Three & Four Wilton Park will start this year and the work is targeted for completion in 2023.

The new office blocks have a combined total floor area of about 450,000 square feet over six floors plus ground and lower ground floors.

At ground level, the development includes a café, restaurant and retail facilities centred around a new public square and adjacent to the one-acre park which is also owned by IPUT.

Wilton Park is part of IPUT's current office development pipeline of about 700,000 square feet, which also includes the Tropical Fruit Warehouse on Dublin's South Docks.

Niall Gaffney, IPUT's chief executive, said LinkedIn shared IPUT's ambition to sustainably develop a new destination in Dublin's central business district.

"This major development will be a key driver of long-term returns for our shareholders. We are committing €350m to the development of the Wilton Park estate which, on completion, will have a value of over €750m," he added.

LinkedIn's deal with IPUT gives it the capacity to grow its current 1,200 headcount in Dublin by more than 4,000.
