IT and communications service provider Paradyn has announced the launch of a new SD-WAN service which is expected to generate €1.5m in new revenue over the next two years.

The software-defined wide-area network (SD-WAN) service allows companies to connect multiple site locations, optimise network performance and reduce network connectivity costs.

SD-WAN supports multiple connection types, including broadband and 4G, and steers traffic around network bottlenecks and issues.

Paradyn said that those who avail of the new service will be able to overcome common network congestion issues, such as low-quality Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calling and video streaming.

The overall SD-WAN market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 40% up to 2021 to become a $4.5 billion market.

The company said that several of its customers are already piloting the technology and there is particular interest amongst companies who prioritise data security.

Cillian McCarthy, Paradyn CEO, said the company receives consistent feedback from customers that connectivity speeds and consequent sub-optimal application performance are some of the greatest barriers to their digital transformation projects.

He said that SD-WAN can overcome these challenges seamlessly.
