From September Meteor is to rebrand as eir after 12 years as a standalone brand within the eir Group.
eir CEO Richard Moat said the decision to rebrand "reflects the confidence we have in the eir brand.
"The transition will be seamless, and Meteor customers will continue using their mobiles exactly as before – with the added benefit of a world of possibilities.
"By focusing on a single mobile brand and reducing the duplication of supporting two brands, we can offer better value and increased innovation," he added.
Mr Moat also said Meteor customers may not have realised they were part of a "much bigger network".
There will be no changes to contracts or mobile plans as part of the rebrand and customers will receive either an eDM or text message informing them of the change.
