Twitter has named Sinéad McSweeney as the Managing Director of its Irish operations.
Ms McSweeney will take on the position in addition to her current role as Vice President of Public Policy and Communications EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
The Cork native joined the company in 2012.
Before that she worked as Director of Communications for An Garda Síochána from 2007 to 2012 and as Director of Media and Public Relations for the Police Service of Northern Ireland between 2004 and 2007.
She also held a range of political advisory positions in the Government including roles as Special Adviser to the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform and, prior to that, at the Attorney General's Office.
Ms McSweeney replaces Mark Little, who earlier this month announced he was leaving the company.
