Twitter has announced that the Managing Director of its Dublin office and Vice-President of Media in Europe, Mark Little, is leaving the company.

In a statement, Mr Little said for several months the company had been considering changes to the Media Partnerships team, which he led in Europe.

That resulted in a decision in October to restructure the team and move the leadership of it to the US, he said.

"I was asked to consider a possible return to the US, where I was living when I joined Twitter, or building on my role as Twitter's Managing Director in Dublin," he said.

"I decided that neither would be the right fit for me - or Twitter Dublin - and opted for a mutually agreed exit from the company."

In a statement, the company wished him well and said it wanted to express its gratitude to Mr Little for "his exemplary stewardship of Twitter Dublin and for leading our European Media team over the past 12 months."

It added that he had brought a wealth of professional experience to bear on its media partnerships efforts across the continent.

In October, Twitter said it was cutting 9% of its workforce around the world, as it struggled to boost user growth and revenue.

Twitter employs around 200 people in its Dublin office, which is the company's European, Middle East and African headquarters.

The company has not yet chosen a replacement MD for its Dublin operations.

Mr Little is understood to be planning to take some time out to consider his options.
