Pharmaceutical company Alter Pharma is to significantly increase its staffing in Ireland following the opening of its new worldwide headquarters in Dublin.
The firm, which is based in Balbriggan, Co Dublin, said it intends to hire 80 people by 2018 - adding to the 40 already employed.
The jobs will be across the areas of research and development, regulatory, supply chain, warehouse, and quality.
Five Alter Pharma companies are based in Ireland, many of which are focused on the development and sale of generic medicines.
€5m is being invested in the new facility.
CEO Pieter Van Rompay said its new facilities underlined its commitment to Ireland and allowed for it to pursue its rapid expansion plans.
The move has been supported by IDA Ireland, which helped with the company's initial set up in Ireland and the development of its new headquarters.
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Mary Mitchell O'Connor - who attended the announcement - said: "The pharma industry makes a huge contribution to the Irish economy in terms of jobs and manufacturing exports, and is one of the fastest growing sectors."
