Up to 110 jobs are due to be created in the Limerick region after a biomaterial and polymer technology company announced it is to set up its European headquarters in Newcastle West.
Ortec Inc "offers custom materials used in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and other health related FDA/EMA regulated industries."
The South Carolina-based company intends to begin manufacturing at a leased property in the town.
In a statement, the company said it plans to double capacity at the 1,207m2 site in the coming months, subject to planning.
The 110 jobs will be engineering and science based and are hoped to come on stream over the coming years, once the plant is operational.
Ortec Inc's Senior Vice President Christopher Brotherton said the project is "a strategic part" of their lobal expansion.
The project is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
