Irish owners of Samsung's Galaxy Note7 smartphones will be able to exchange their devices for new ones from 19 September.
This follows reports of exploding batteries in the Note7 device.
Last week, the tech giant said it was suspending sales of its latest flagship smartphone .
In a statement today, Samsung Electronics said it will voluntarily give any of its Irish customers who bought a Galaxy Note7 smartphone a new one.
"While there have been only a small number of reported incidents globally, Samsung is committed to prioritising the safety of customers. Samsung has identified the affected inventory and stopped sales and shipments of those devices," the company said.
Irish customers who have Galaxy Note7 devices will be contacted by the provider or operator from which they purchased the product in order to arrange a new phone.
"The safety and satisfaction of customers is our top priority and by working closely with our partners and operators, we are taking a proactive approach to address the needs of Galaxy Note7 customers in the UK and Ireland," commented Conor Pierce, Vice President of IT & Mobile of Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland.
Samsung has so far sold about one million units of the Note7 in countries including South Korea and the US.
It is understood that between 300 and 500 of the phones had been sold in the Irish market.
Since late last month, several users have posted photos and videos on social media showing the charred Note7 with part of its 5.7-inch touchscreen burnt and melted, saying it suddenly caught fire.
