John and Patrick Collison, founders of Stripe, were named as the EY Entrepreneur of the year for 2015 in Dublin last night.
Over 1,500 business leaders from across the island of Ireland and around the world were in attendance at the awards event.
The competition's 24 finalists collectively employ over 5,000 people and last year generated revenues exceeding €1.4 billion.
Founded in 2010 by the Limerick brothers, Stripe is a technology platform that developers use to build internet businesses.
As well as being selected as the overall winner of the EY Entrepreneur award, Stripe were named the EY International Entrepreneur of the year.
The Collisons will now go forward to represent Ireland at the World Entrepreneur of the year awards in Monte Carlo in June 2016 where they will compete with over 60 entrepreneurs from across the globe.
Also at last night's event, Jack Dobson of Dunbia was named EY Industry Entrepreneur of the year, while Padraig McBride and Donald Fitzmaurice, of Brandtone, were named EY Emerging Entrepreneur of the year.
The winners were selected by an independent panel of judges chaired by Anne Heraty of CPL Resources. The panel also included previous EY Entrepreneur winners Michael Carey, Liam Casey, Terry Clune, Dr Ed Harty, Joe Hogan, Jerry Kennelly, Brian Long, Pat McDonagh and Denis O'Brien as well as representatives from Enterprise Ireland and Invest Northern Ireland.
