United Drug has reported adjusted pre-tax profits of €38m for the six months to the end of March, an increase of 8% on the same time the previous year.

The international healthcare provider said that half yearly revenues rose by 14% to €1.02 billion, while operating profits rose by 13% to €44.6m.

United Drug's board has declared an interim dividend of 2.61 cent per share, up 5% on the 2012 interim dividend.

During the six month period, the company said that the US has become its largest profit contributing region, followed closely by the UK and the rest of Europe.

In its results statement today, the company said that it plans to rebrand the group as ''UDG Healthcare'' in September subject to shareholder approval.

''The first half of 2013 has seen us integrate our recent acquisitions, structure our business for future growth and deliver operating profit growth,'' commented the company's chief executive Liam FitzGerald.

''We continue to work hard to provide a range and quality of professional outsourcing solutions that enable our international healthcare clients to operate more effectively,'' he added.
