Circulation figures for the first half of this year show some big falls for a number of daily and Sunday newspapers compared with the same period last year.
The Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) figures show that in the daily market, the Irish Independent still leads the way with an average of 144,896 a day, but this is down 4.8% on the same period a year earlier. The Irish Times fell by 7.6% to 105,742 and the Irish Examiner dropped 7.3% to 46,687.
In the Sunday newspaper market, the Sunday Independent's circulation was 265,455, down 2.5%, while the Sunday Tribune lost more than 17% to 54,400. The Sunday World was 3.7% lower at 267,130, while the Sunday Business Post lost more than 14% of circulation to 49,637.
The Evening Herald lost 5% compared with a year earlier to 67,657, while Cork's Evening Echo fell almost 8% to 22,288.
The ABC report also provided figures for a number of websites, which showed rte.ie with just over 4 million unique users a month, followed by Daft.ie with 3.65 million. Independent digital sites had 2.47 million unique users a month, while irishtimes.com had just over 2.3 million.
