Waterford Institute of Technology has received a boost by securing additional research funding.
The Telecommunications Software & Systems Group at the college will lead five research projects with a total value of €21.5m.
The group will also take part in a further three projects worth over €17m, with the money coming from the EU's Framework Programme for Research.
This directly translates to €3.8m of research funding secured for the group in Waterford in this latest round of research funding.
The projects are focusing on improving and shaping the 'Future Internet' and systems architecture.
