Cisco Systems has unveiled a new generation of superfast internet routers, saying they will 'transform' the internet with vastly increased speed and capacity.
The leader in networking equipment said its new router 'triples the capacity of its predecessor'. It claimed the new technology would enables the entire printed collection of the Library of Congress in the US to be downloaded in just over a second.
The system also would enable 'every man, woman and child in China to make a video call, simultaneously; and every motion picture ever created to be streamed in less than four minutes,' Cisco said.
With 12 times the traffic capacity of the nearest competing system, Cisco said its CRS-3 was designed to 'transform' the broadband communication and entertainment industry.
